The public map works without an account and without analytics. Google Analytics loads only after you choose Allow analytics.
What analytics measures
When allowed, we collect aggregate page views and standard interactions such as scrolls, outbound-link clicks, site searches, form interactions, video engagement, and file downloads. We also measure guide-to-map use, map recovery actions and page performance (LCP, INP and CLS). We use this to learn which maps and guides are useful.
What stays out
Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization remain disabled. Analytics page locations exclude query strings and fragments so account tokens and filter details are not sent as page URLs. Our custom events exclude search text, notes, coordinates and account identifiers. Performance events contain metric values, ratings and a temporary measurement identifier, without DOM elements or interaction text.
Your choice
Choose Not now to keep the Google tag unloaded. After making a choice, use the Privacy control at the bottom of any page to change it. Refusing analytics does not limit the map, guide, community pages, or account features.
Stripe processes annual supporter payments and stores payment details. We keep the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, membership status, and paid-through date to manage renewals and profile benefits. We do not store card numbers. Your profile name appears on the supporter list only if you opt in; you can remove it on the membership page. Deleting your account stops future supporter renewals. Payment records held by Stripe may remain for accounting and payment obligations. For billing or privacy help, contact morphiclabsdata@gmail.com.
Account and community data
Account email is used for account access. Public observations follow the location-privacy choice selected by the contributor; approximate coordinates are shifted before publication, and private coordinates remain in the contributor's notebook.
Profiles and gathering collections
Your optional chart placements, profile biography, gathering coordinates, notes and harvest amounts are saved to your account. Profiles and charts are private. Collections begin private; you can publish a collection or individual places and separately choose to publish exact coordinates and harvest dates and amounts. Public pages exclude field and harvest notes. Named accounts you invite can read exact locations, notes and history for the scope you grant. You can revoke access, edit or delete records, clear chart placements, or delete your account to remove its journal data. Copies already made by readers cannot be recalled. This feature does not collect birth dates, birth times or birthplaces.
Photo ID suggestions
Adding a photo to Suggest an ID is optional. Your browser shrinks the photo and redraws it, which removes camera data such as GPS position, before it is sent. Our server passes it to Anthropic's Claude API to compare with the catalogue and keeps no copy. To limit use, we record only a one-way hash of your network address and the time of each check. Anthropic processes the photo under its commercial terms .
The map’s starting country
We use the approximate country supplied by our hosting provider to open the map near you. This does not request precise device location or save a location to your account. Mapbox supplies the map and, when needed, country bounds. A VPN can change the detected country; you can search for any place or choose the map’s location button to use device location.
