Editorial standards
Mushroom Forage Map is a public observation map and educational reference. It is not an identification service, an access permit, or an edibility guarantee.
Public observations have passed source or community review and use privacy-safe coordinates. Review supports data quality; it does not certify the mushroom in a visitor's hand.
Species content lives as Markdown in the public repository, so changes are versioned and reviewable. Pages name their compiler, review status, date, and sources. Until a qualified expert signs off, they say that review is pending.
Send the page URL, the statement in question, and a reliable supporting source to morphiclabsdata@gmail.com. Corrections are recorded in the public revision history. A content update is not an independent expert review; review status changes only after a qualified reviewer signs off.
The collection includes 108 mushroom guides, 113 wild plant profiles, ten mushroom habitat regions, and a growing field-skills library. Observation coverage depends on public records and varies considerably by country. This is a developing reference, not a complete catalogue of all edible or poisonous species worldwide.
Safety and medical claims prioritize poison centers, government agencies, university resources, toxicology literature, and established mycological organizations. Observation photography is licensed and attributed.
Approximate public coordinates are shifted before publication. Exact contributor coordinates remain private unless the contributor explicitly chooses otherwise.
Google Analytics is optional and stays off until you allow it. When enabled, it helps us understand aggregate use of maps and guides; advertising storage and personalization remain off. Read the privacy notice or reopen Privacy choices at any time to change your selection.
Effective August 27, 2026, you may quote, analyze, and redistribute the privacy-safe observation metadata compiled by Mushroom Forage Map for personal, educational, and research use when you credit Mushroom Forage Map and retain available source links. This permission excludes source photographs and text, commercial resale, attempts to reconstruct obscured locations, and personally identifying data. Imported observations and other third-party material remain subject to their original creators' licenses and attribution requirements.
0 of 221 profiles have a recorded independent review. First priority: toxic species, consequential preparation claims and dangerous edible lookalikes. Review dates will name the reviewer, qualifications, regional scope and signed review record.
Regional expansion needs local expertise, diagnostic photographs across life stages, native and introduced status, and current conservation and access sources. The current collection is a starting point. Contribute a review or correction.
